SAPA – Vietnam’s Northwestern mountain paradise

Situated in the Northwest of Vietnam, around 300km from Hanoi, Sapa is one of the most beloved destinations for travelers and trekkers. The name “Sapa” literally means “sand” (Sa) and “village” (Pa). Previously, there was just a “sand village” for local people to exchange goods and services.

The mountain paradise becomes a real muse during autumn days, from mid-August to October when the rice fields embrace mesmerizing golden colors. Because it only happens once a year, farmers greet it with much enthusiasm and pride.

A bountiful harvest of ripe rice dotted by the deep green color of the great Hoang Lien Son mountains adds tremendous volume to the nature canvas, across the highland region.

From afar, the terraced rice fields seem like postcard features, with perfectly memorable beauty drawing travelers to stand in admiration for a while. The misty veil in the morning makes the scene more mysterious and alluring.

	Ta Van Village 7km from Sapa, surrounded on both sides by Hoang Lien Son and Ham Rong mountains, Lao Chai – Ta Van is where the Mong, Tay, and Dao people live and one of the most vivid places to see the terraced fields.
Y Linh Ho Village 7km from Sapa, Y Linh Ho is a wild beauty embraced by the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain, where the Mong and Dao communities live with a touch of off-the-beaten-track and exploration experience.
