Tả Phìn Cave is a site of great research value, archaeological significance, and tourism attraction. Tả Phìn Village is located 12 km north of Sa Pa center, in the northern direction, inhabited by the Dao and H’Mông ethnic groups.

The Entrance Path to Tả Phìn Cave
About 1 km north of the Tả Phìn Commune People’s Committee headquarters, there is a limestone mountain range, a branch of the Hoàng Liên Sơn range. Within this mountain range, there is a small hill, at the foot of which a cave entrance appears. The entrance is about 5 meters high and approximately 3 meters wide, opening a passage that leads underground. Walking more than 30 meters into the darkness and rugged terrain, you will encounter a cave. From this point, the cave branches off in many directions, with narrow passages just wide enough for a person to crawl through, some sections are steep and require clinging to rocks or dangling to ascend and descend. Following these small walls, more pathways branch out, some winding and intricate, eventually leading back to the original spot.

Pathway into the Cave
Following the large cliff face, it feels like traversing up the mountain wall, with winding paths that go up and down. Some sections are bulbous, resembling a pregnant woman holding a baby; others look like fairies bathing; some resemble a giant mulberry with rugged, white-tinged lava blocks, similar to coral reefs along the edges; and some look like smooth white columns hanging from the ceiling… Especially in the widest part of the cave, about 8 meters high, stalactites hang down, forming wavy “banners” that shimmer with jade-green hues. Water droplets from the mountain top filter down and gather at the tips of the stalactites, dripping softly, resembling a heartbeat in an ethereal space.

The Beauty of Tả Phìn Cave
Deeper inside, we find a large tilted stone slab with footprints imprinted on its surface. On the right tip of the rock, there are traces resembling horse hooves. Opposite to this, there is a wall with French inscriptions carved with hard tools, which, despite the passage of time and dust, can still be read today.
Tả Phìn Cave holds many mysteries for us and must be protected and preserved. Have you heard of this cave before? Join Thổ địa Sa Pa – Original Sa Pa to explore it during your Sa Pa travel journey.
