Location of Ý Linh Hồ Village
Ý Linh Hồ Village is located along Mường Hoa Valley, in San Sả Hồ Commune, Sa Pa Town, Lào Cai Province. It is about 7km from the Stone Church in Sa Pa Town center and is near famous attractions such as Ô Quy Hồ Pass, Sa Pa Stone Church, Hàm Rồng Mountain, Silver Waterfall, Tả Phìn Village, and Sa Pa Sky Gate.

The story goes that a man named Lý Lình Hồ pioneered and established this village for the Dao people to settle. Later, when the Dao moved elsewhere, the H’Mong people came to live here but still wanted to honor the village’s founder. They adapted the name to Ý Linh Hồ in the H’Mong language for easier daily communication.
Since 2017, the Prime Minister of Vietnam has recognized Sa Pa as a National Tourism Area of international stature. This event laid the foundation for promoting Sa Pa’s image and attracting both domestic and international tourists. In particular, Ý Linh Hồ, along with Lao Chải and Tả Van villages, has become a “tourism triangle” for travelers passionate about experiencing local culture.

Two Routes and Ways to Travel to Ý Linh Hồ Village
Ý Linh Hồ Village is not located near the main road, so reaching it requires navigating winding, challenging slopes. Below are the two main routes to Ý Linh Hồ Village:
Route from Cát Cát Village through the Rice Valley
This route is somewhat winding with many curves, but travelers can reach the Lao Chải San 2 suspension bridge by motorbike or car. Besides taking a taxi to the bridge (costing 10,500–27,500 VND/km), visitors can rent a motorbike to “explore” Ý Linh Hồ for about 80,000–300,000 VND/day. Some reputable motorbike rental services in Sa Pa include Mr. Chinh (44 Fansipang, Sa Pa Town), Học Lý (08 Hoàng Liên, Sa Pa), Cheap Motorbike Rental (17 Thạch Sơn, Sa Pa Town), and Anh Sáng (04 Mường Hoa, Sa Pa Town).
Route Details: Start from Cát Cát Village, head east toward Cát Cát, then veer slightly right toward Violet. Travel about 1.3 km and turn right at the park into Mường Hoa. Continue for 1 km, then turn slightly right to reach TL152.
Next, turn right at Lý Cường Restaurant, travel about 60 meters, then turn right again. Continue for 200 meters, turn right at Entire Sa Pa Rosie House on Stilts, and proceed for just over 2 km to reach the Lao Chải San 2 suspension bridge. At this point, it’s recommended to walk across the bridge (though experienced motorbike riders can cross) as the road from the bridge to Ý Linh Hồ Village is narrow, rough, and treacherous, unsuitable for cars.
Route from Provincial Road 152 – Lao Chải
Similar to the Cát Cát route, travelers on Provincial Road 152 (TL152) can only drive a car up to the Lao Chải San 2 suspension bridge. It’s recommended to take a taxi to this point (costing 10,500–27,500 VND/km) and then walk across the suspension bridge to Ý Linh Hồ Village. For experienced riders looking for a challenge, riding a motorbike along this route and crossing the bridge is possible (reputable motorbike rental services in Sa Pa include Mr. Chinh at 44 Fansipang, Học Lý at 08 Hoàng Liên, Cheap Motorbike Rental at 17 Thạch Sơn, and Anh Sáng at 04 Mường Hoa).
Compared to the Cát Cát route, the TL152 – Lao Chải route is more winding with more turns. Route Details: Start from the Sa Pa Stone Church, head northwest toward Hàm Rồng on Thạch Sơn. Turn right at Bus Sa Pa Lào Cai onto Thạch Sơn, then turn left at Sa Pa Town onto Xuân Viên, and veer slightly left to reach Fansipan Road. Continue by turning left at Outdoor BBQ onto Ng. Cầu Mây, travel about 300 meters, then turn left to reach Mường Hoa. Go straight for 1.8 km, and at Tửu Quán – Mây Lang Thang, veer slightly right to reach TL152. Proceed straight for 1 km, turn right at Lý Cường Restaurant, travel 60 meters, then turn right again. Turn right once more at Entire Sa Pa Rosie House on Stilts, and continue for just over 2 km to reach the Lao Chải San 2 suspension bridge.
